Poem Analysis :
Anthony Laconto's poem describes how he felt as a young child growing up . The emotions and pains he felt were traumatizing to him, the feelings of pain and loneliness and sadness. The poet talks about how he hears words that give him pride and joy, my thoughts being that those words come from little children. The reassurance he get from the young children involved in the poem , that felt exactly like he did when he was a child , is that hey wont be alone like he was. Thus connecting it to the title of the poem "Never Alone"
Literary Devices :
In this poem the literary devices found were allusion, simile , and Analogy. An allusion is a word that makes a reference to something else . An example of an allusion in this poem is , "i feel you come into my mind and thought , into battles i have fought " , this is an allusion because the reference made of the thoughts of the person to the battle that were once fought. The thoughts and the battle both might have the same concept of a mood or theme thus comparing them in the poem. The next literary devices used were simile and analogy. An Analogy is a comparison between two items based on their structures to further explain a concept, a simile is the use of comparison with one things to a different thing . The example of an analogy is "where things are down and low , like a gentle streams flow , the comparison made was of the movement of the items to the flow of the river flowing down . This is also an example of a simile because a simile is also comparing to things just like the analogy .
