Poem Analysis
This poem was written to demonstrate someones emotions of love to someone . The subject of having to prove their love is shown throughout the poem . The poet suggest meadows and valleys as signs of romance and love . In the second stanza the person to whom the poet is referring to shows that they aren't impressed by fancy and expensive luxuries . The moral that I got from the poem is that money doesn't buy love . Love is shown not just spoken .
Literary devices
The literary device found in the poem by Christopher Marlowe was a pun . A pun is a joke referring to a different meaning , such as words that have the same meaning but are used differently . The example found in the poem was " By shallow rivers , to whose falls " . My interpretation of this statement was as a literary device ,pun , a common river is Niagara Falls the statement used falls in the contexts thus making it have a double meaning . RIvers flow in the downwards positions thus referring to the pun. Without involving these certain words the pun wouldn't exist and the contexts of the poem wouldn't make sense .
